Description of 🧡 Creative Grids Quilt Ruler 4-1/2in x 8-1/2in - CGR48: The Perfect Quilting Tool for Precision and Creativity

This 4-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch rectangle ruler features easy-to-read black and white markings printed in 1 inch grids marked in 1/8 and 1/4 inch increments. Use the easy-to-read, black numbers (printed on white dots) and the 1/4 inch grip sides to cut whole inches. The 1/4 inch dashed lines printed on two adjoining sides aid in trimming seam allowances. Use the patented Turn-A-Round feature – designated by the easy to read, numerical white numbers (printed on black dots) and the 1/2 inch grip sides – to add the 1/2 inch seam allowance. Use the white 45 degree angle to trim half-square triangles in whole inch increments. Use the black 45 degree angle to trim half-square triangles in half inch increments. An additional black 45 degree line is placed so that two angles cross 1/4 inch away from the outside edge. Use these markings to square up flying geese units; squares set on point or mark cross-hatching. The ruler also features a 30degree/60degree angle. White horizontal and vertical lines are printed on the rectangle so the center of the ruler is easily distinguishable. Use these lines to fussy cut stripes and borders. The ruler slides easily over the fabric until pressure is applied. Then, our exclusive gripper holds the fabric in place while cutting, eliminating slipping and miss-cuts!

Okay, now I'm spoiled!

When I started my quilting experience with the yellow ruler I had to buy a special shape for a big project and what a difference the Creative Grid ruler! It features built-in points and edges that securely grip the fabric or paper pattern for a much better and more precise cut. Any of the Creative Grid ranges are HIGHLY recommended.

Pros
  • Positive Only
Cons

Beautiful quilting ruler

This ruler is amazing. I'm new to quilting so I don't know all the terms yet. The ruler has a way to align it so you can make perfect diagonal cuts from 5 inch squares. It has some sort of coating on the bottom that keeps the fabric from shifting when you cut it, which is very useful. There are markings so they can be seen on both light and dark fabrics. It looks like the person who designed it thought carefully about the needs of quilters. I highly recommend this line

Pros
  • Hard wearing finish
Cons
  • Garden tools

The product is missing an important feature!

I like the size of the ruler but there is no hole to hang the ruler. Very uncomfortable! The product photos indicate that the ruler should have a hanging hole. I tried to contact the seller but received no response. Now I have to decide whether to return this ruler and order a new one and hope the next one has a hole to hang it in, or deal with not being able to store my ruler properly and out of the way. All quilting rulers I have have hanging holes. This is clearly something missing from the…

Pros
  • Use a 45-degree black corner to trim half-square triangles in half-inch increments. An additional 45 degree black line is placed so the two corners intersect 1/4 inch from the outside edge. Use these markers to set up units of Flying Geese; Squares set to dot or mark hatching.
Cons
  • Very expensive

Perfect smaller rectangular ruler!

For small jobs, 4.5" x 8.5" is ideal. If you've already cut your strips or whatever and need more cutting, this size is really very comfortable on your hands and might go with one of the smaller rugs. Of course, it has the typical markings that are so unique and so useful for creative grids, including a 1" white paint mark and then on the opposite side and bottom a 3 1/2" mark, so half an inch, one and one half an inch, 2 1/2 inches, etc. Another thing I really like about the creative grid…

Pros
  • The ruler slides easily over the fabric until pressed. Our exclusive grip then holds the fabric in place as you cut, preventing slipping and sliding!
Cons
  • High price

good grip; Love the addition of 0.5 " to these rulers

I have several Creative Grids cutting rulers. I love the non-slip backing that hugs the fabric so it doesn't move when using the disc cutter. (You still need to hold the ruler firmly to prevent slipping, but not as much as handleless rulers.) These rulers have all the necessary increments needed for cutting when creating a quilt. I especially like the ".5" addition to these rulers; After using them for a while, it was very nice to have this measurement since quilters so often have to cut in 1/2

Pros
  • Use patented Turn-A-Round feature characterized by easy-to-read numeric white numbers (printed on black dots) and 1/2" grip sides to turn 1/ Add 2 inches for seam allowance. Use the white 45 degree corner to trim the half square triangles in inch increments.
Cons
  • Doubtful
