Smart design, low reliability

I've been waiting for it to arrive and when it arrived this morning I immediately got to work. The design of the tool is well thought out and works well except that the shank is quite long which creates space issues. The problem I had was the bit broke in my alternator shaft. Now I have to replace the entire generator.

Pros
  • Features 2-piece spline wrench for removing and replacing freewheels Found at B
Cons
  • Outside

Saves money! - Engine Tools

My alternator pulley started to squeak and I had the option of buying a brand new alternator or replacing the pulley. I was able to find a pulley online for $22 and saved myself $200 + a new alternator. I removed my alternator to do this replacement, the tool will not fit between the main bracket. Place the generator in a vise. My alternator had a reverse thread. Engine Audi A4 CVT CAEB 2010.

Pros
  • For use with 1/2" drive tools
Cons
  • Some small things

Perfect for 2004 Jetta TDI

Worked like a charm for my alternator pulley. I actually had to take the splined section and put it on the percussion gun and "hit" the pulley with the percussion gun (quickly pull the trigger, then wait for it to stop spinning and repeat) to break it and then one Use a triple square head screwdriver. to complete the uninstall and install. For my application you need to completely remove the alternator from the vehicle.

Pros
  • Applications include VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Opel, Porsche, Renault and Ford
Cons
  • I'll write later

Great tool for power tools

I wish it was that easy. I have a Golf 04 TDI. The washer reservoir must be removed or the tool will be too long. This is much quicker than removing the alternator from the car. The pulleys are tightened with a torque of 80 Nm/m, so that little effort is required to unscrew them. With these torque settings, you must take extra care to ensure that the teeth in both parts, the pulley and the shaft, are fully seated. The tool is well made, appears to be properly hardened and finely machined and…

Pros
  • Cylinder with 33 splines Fits in pulley retaining bolt
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Great tool! Very strong and gets the job done!

I have a Volvo S60 T5 2001 year with about miles on it and it still has the original alternator. I haven't had any problems with them yet, but I know they will come soon enough. So, as a preventative measure, I decided to connect the two wearing parts, the tension regulator and the pulley. This tool makes removing the pulley easier, especially if you have a percussion gun. On my Volvo, the information in the Haynes manual was incorrect. It says you have to turn the sprocket splines…

Pros
  • Two piece multi spline wrench required to remove and replace Bosch alternator overrunning pulleys 10mm x 12 Alternator end locks and a 33 key cylinder on shaft fits in pulley locking screw
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Difficult to find the right tool

Purchased to help reinstall a pulley on a freewheel Bosch alternator for my Volvo V70. I actually bought this for a sliding 'counterpart', a 33 spline fitting [Volvo part number V9995761]. I was happy that this bucking piece is removed from the long nozzle and fits the reel perfectly. The long center shaft actually appears to be a T50 Torx and is too long to work with the alternator while still attached to the engine. That's not a problem for me, there is a workaround with a shorter torx bit…

Pros
  • Used in VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Opel, Porsche, Renault and Ford
Cons
  • Crumpled
