Darn Tough Tactical Cushion Sock Review

I was very upset when I put them on and saw that they had sent me two left socks. Until I realized that the "L" inside means "large". Spirit. The toes feel great.

Excellent socks, hold their shape very well. Gives the feet a feeling of air during exercise. These socks can be worn in military PTs and meet all standards (height is ankle and has no logo).

Yes, they look like quality socks. But as another reviewer mentioned, they basically pick up all the lint and pet hair they come in contact with and are mostly covered in stuff like when you take them out of the dryer, which is pretty unsightly. Plus, the number written on the top of each sock makes you feel like a prisoner or barcoded consumer item. expensive.

I'm gradually replacing all my socks with Darn Tough socks. For me the sock was a little big when I first put it on straight after buying it, but after one wash in the dryer they have been perfect ever since (and have stayed the same on all other washes). These (XL) are great for my height 12ft but uncomfortably narrow. I have another pair of more wintery DT socks that are also very good but have the same problem, particularly over the ankle. I was hoping that the lower height would eliminate the pinching sensation and they're actually nicer in that regard, but they still feel like they're squeezing my toes too much. I still mostly prefer them to cheap cotton socks, but wish they were a large size or something.

Using the Darn Tough sizing chart, I ordered 5 pairs in L (I wear shoe sizes 10 1/2-11). Received them today and they were quite snug, bordering on uncomfortably tight. In particular, they feel tight from the medial sphenoid to the talus of the foot. The sock will hopefully stretch a bit after a few days of use.
