Enhance Precision with the David White D620 Sighting Level Review

As I expected, but the lens is discolored, it's hard to see through it. This is a guessing game. Not sure if it's really worth the money as range is limited so the 50 cent line level and string works 100x better.

Works very well and is well made. Mostly happy with my purchase except that it's hard to keep quiet. I modified my level a bit by adding a thin 1/4-20 grip to the bottom of the level so I can use it with a tripod. Now it's perfect for almost any situation.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the spirit level is made of thick and durable aluminum rather than plastic. However, that quality was wasted as the lens was so scratched and tinted that I couldn't see anything in normal daylight. Not that it mattered as the lens fell out quickly within 24 hours. Now this is useless as the level line is marked on this lens.

It serves its purpose well. Instructions are on the packaging, I show in the photo. Stadium lines are described along with their usage. Be sure to remove the plastic wrap from the front of the jar and light the hole at the top where the water level is good. The case is made of metal as described. If you need extra precision, buy an adapter instead or in addition.

Built like heavy metal armor, this item should last forever. At just a few dollars more than cheap plastic scope spirit levels, this is a bargain! I tested accuracy by aiming at eye level on a jetty about two miles across the lake and the bubble was dead center. The only downside I could find is that the bubble is hard to see in a dimly lit room. It works best outdoors or indoors with a bright overhead light (so there's enough light coming in through the small window above).

This is not a builder level. The purpose is to make rough estimates of altitude. I need to determine the rise and fall of a property to determine building needs before making any offers to buy. He does that very well. You can make a very rough but satisfactory topographical map of the area (without holes and bumps) for preliminary drawings. Eventually, however, I would switch to the builder or transit layer. It really serves the purpose for which it is intended.
