DOT Approved Half Shell Hawk Motorcycle Helmet by Daytona Helmets Review

I used the size chart provided and my head barely fits in the helmet. As you can see from the photos I took, it's also quite large and looks like a mushroom head. I'm not impressed.

The name is misleading and although the fact that it is not DOT approved is not a fact. It's cheap, runs very little, and looks like a kid's prop. Don't skimp on a fake prop helmet, and if you don't care, don't ride with a cheap toy on your mind. Have some respect.

I like this new helmet, the shape is modern but not convex. While all half helmets tend to have a mushroom head, this one has an elongated polo shape to reduce the mushroom effect somewhat. Medium fits well, feels snug but not too tight. Very happy with this purchase, price, appearance and quality exceeded all my expectations. I wish they had done it in flat steel grey, I would do it again! 👍👍👍

I was about to buy a new polo helmet until I found out the ticket here is $350 to ride without a DOT approved helmet. I am very happy with the fit and look of this helmet. Although it doesn't fit like the new style due to the inner shell, it does NOT give you a large mushroom head like other DOT rated helmets of this style. I used the installation guide and ordered XL. The fit is perfect and actually quite comfortable.

I'm very worried! I bought this HAWK helmet because it was advertised as a DOT approved hard hat. When the box of Daytona helmets arrived, the outside said "WARNING! This collector's item does not meet Department of Transportation specifications. It cannot be used for motorized vehicles. and does not protect the head on impact. WTF? Is it a DOT-approved helmet as advertised, or a "collectible toy" that does NOT offer any protection? . . . Is this disclaimer correct? Revine needs to investigate!

Despite claims that this helmet is compact and low profile, it is NOT. The image shows Medium and X-Small, which are the same physical size except for the sheer amount of inner lining. Any helmet can be Large or possibly X-Large simply by reducing the size of the liner. I ordered Medium and X-Small and both had the same outer shell size which was big enough to serve as Large or X-Large.
