do not buy Durastuf (own brand)

Bought a private label to replace a Denso (Toyota) coil after a misfire in cylinder 2. After exhibiting the brand in store, I realized 2 things.1. It didn't fit fully into the electrical connector and 2 Denso cost half. And let's add a third, that if Toyota uses them, I prefer them on my truck.

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • poorly thought out

It worked great right away.

I had one of these installed on my 2000 Land Cruiser when the code popped up. Installation was fairly painless and only took about 10 minutes for 1 ignition coil. I cleaned up the code and haven't had any problems since. I will buy more of these when others start having problems. In fact, it would be nice to have a few on hand.

Pros
  • Best in the niche
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

My misfire was fixed immediately: 4.7L 2001 Sequoia

Installed in 2UZ-FE engine on 4.7L 2001 Sequoia SR5 AT. It only takes 2 minutes to install, one screw, one electrical plug and it disconnects instantly, then do the same in reverse. My engine was running horribly due to misfiring on the 8th cylinder. I thought it was the spark plugs (original at 227,000 miles). The spark plugs opened and the gap more than doubled, probably killing the coil. after the spark plugs didn't fix it i changed the ignition coil from cylinder 8 to cylinder 7 and the…

Easy enough for a carpenter

I'm not a mechanic but feel comfortable doing light repairs on my 2002 Tundra. (And as I did on my 1996 T100.) One of these coils failed while driving and I had my favorite mechanic (Wright's Automotive - San Leandro, CA) diagnose and replace it. Decided to replace the other 7 myself. I watched the video BEFORE ordering these DENSO replacement parts, received them today and installed all 7 in about 30 minutes. I saved about $680 by making it myself. After the words, however, I had to wash my…

SAVE ME LOTS OF MONEY!

I saved a lot of money replacing the ignition coils on my Toyota Tundra. I was happy to find these original spools online instead of buying them from a repair shop or dealer. It was a very easy direct repair to replace the original coils which all snapped after 160,000 miles and my truck started backfiring. Replacing those coils and swapping out the spark plugs (with iridium ones) not only eliminated the misfires, but also increased power and gas mileage than ever before (probably due to…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • All right

Perfect fit for 2000 Toyota Tundra 4.7L

They were very easy to replace on my 2000 Toyota Tundra 4.7L. We disconnect the wire connection, unscrew the only screw, pull out the ignition coil, put a new one, screw in the screw and reconnect the wire connection. 5 minutes work. I can't believe I paid $200 to a car dealer to replace the last one. I smeared some dielectric grease on the inside of the rubber boot to help slide it over the tip of the spark plug and potentially prevent sparking. Nothing crazy and not deep enough to hit the…

1/3 Denso Quality Cost Stealership

Bought 8 of these 2 years ago for about $54 each for a 2002 Tundra 4.7L 4WD with 155,000 miles on the engine. A pack of reels broke a few years ago and was replaced with god knows what in a garage? I noticed that other old packages had tears along each of them. Did some research and read/learned from the folks at Land Cruiser 4.7L that it's better to replace all the coils at once than one at a time. In addition, the reviewers learned from the reviewers that it is not worth buying Chinese-made…
