This is a really elegant locomotive with lots of little details. The headlight lights up, as does the coal firebox at the rear of the engine. The only thing to consider is placement on your Halloween display so you don't block the view of the glowing furnace from any of the other (really cool) connection machines. Also, the headlight isn't particularly powerful, but don't let that distract you from this quality product.

Very disappointed. This train is made to look wow. I looked at it and I was surprised: it's too big, but when did we connect it? I was hoping for entertainment but this is a failure. I love department 56. However it was broken on arrival which was very disappointing. It cracked right at the junction between the engine and the coal wagon. (After careful consideration, I think this is a weak point, so others should be careful with it. I think it's more fragile than the other items in Division 56.) I agree with other reviews about the light. They are very thin making it difficult to see the train in a low position. Everything will be fine for the purpose it was bought for, but
