factory replica. Great key!

I knew I was buying shells made in China but didn't realize I was getting a 1:1 factory copy. It looks identical to the factory shell. The internals are slightly different, as I discovered when trying to swap my old key back into this new shell. It doesn't work without mods. But if you're planning on cutting that key, then you've got no problem here. Just swap the insides and you're done. Great keychain for the price. You will not be disappointed.

Much better than expected!

Not only was it a simple replacement for my worn original key fob case, when it arrived contrary to the picture in the listing a Land Rover script was actually written making this key fob case an almost exact replica of the original maybe even better. It's also worth noting that this isn't like some of the other sticking. It snaps into place very firmly and also has a locking screw. Replacing the actual key required very little grinding of the plastic case to get it to pop out properly, but…

Good replacement for my 2006 LR3

If you don't have a local locksmith or dealer to 'cut' the key, it's possible to 'internal' and transfer the key. However, some adjustments need to be made. The key can be replaced with your original key, and the circuit board fits the new "key fob" perfectly, no adjustments needed. The problem is the thickness of the original key. It is 0.2mm thicker than the "receiver" of this replacement. Therefore, a very fine "shaving/polishing" is required. In order to remove the keys from each key fob…

Poorly made. Does not match.

The plastic sleeve that fits into the notch in the key bit holder (the shiny metal part where the blade sits) is not the same diameter as the standard key body. Just too big. Since I couldn't remove the pin holding the blade in place, I decided to just replace the old assembly with the new housing. Too bad, since the boss doesn't fit in the circular recess around the spring-loaded button area that everything spins on, the case won't snap into place. Forcing the case closed means that (it's not…

The quality is quite good for the price.

The price has a lot to do with the high evaluation, but after some effort I am satisfied with the result. I decided to use the original key without removing the pins and swapping them out like most. The problem is that the size of the original part that contains the key and the new part are not exactly the same. I spent about 30 minutes using a dremel to trim the parts of the circle that should fit in the flap (for lack of a better term) without trimming it, the button doesn't click freely. It…

Works like a charm but you have to get a laser cut key

Arrived quickly and was exactly as described. It was difficult to figure out how to open the case, but I ended up opening it. I watched a few youtube videos to figure out how to disassemble my original key and reassemble the circuit and battery in a new case. I tried using my original key bolt but it doesn't fit - there is a piece of plastic on one side of the body that is slightly larger than the bolt fits. There were several videos showing people recording this, but I couldn't figure out how.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Good but not great

Works great after some tweaking

Bought to replace the body on my LR3 06-LR. The battery has not been changed and works perfectly. I think a new battery needs to be soldered in. 1st - taking apart my old one wasn't easy, but not as difficult as I expected. I used pliers with angled needles that have L-shaped tips. Open the key and place the beveled ends in the key hider to protect the key fob from movement and spread the pliers to separate the old casing. Carefully open the case and remove the key and motherboard. Now…

Good choice if you know what to do.

This case is a pretty solid replacement but there are a few things I'd like to know before I start: Metal.- The original key fob is sealed and will need to be opened. Take your time and keep the pieces together, although you won't need most of them. But it will be a good guide - The shaft and some of the key elements are slightly different in size - Move the internals into the new case. This part is easy. You need to take out the blank key blade. There is a pin that needs to be knocked out that

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Dull packaging
