I don't have any scientific evidence that this product cleans and deodorizes trash cans but it seems to work and every time I use it the disposer loses its appeal. The best part might be the performance this product offers. It whips, froths, boils and spills out of the chute into the sink, and then, presumably when the cleaning is complete, the suds are drawn into the chute and then disappear. I've noticed that my garbage smells bad, but I rent out my apartment and the landlord doesn't bother to come around. I used this to clean it up and hopefully help with the smell and fuse I saw. I used it once a week and I noticed a difference. The smell is gone and the disposal sounds better when used. They are VERY easy to use. Take the bag (DO NOT open it) and put it in the sink after running warm water for a minute. Enable reuse. Let it run until the blue foam disappears. Perfection!

Whatever I put down the chute to clean it always left a bad odor that attracted fruit flies. I took this product as a supplement to my order and am so glad I did. This works great but the instructions don't make it clear if the disposal needs to be running all the time while the chemicals are supposed to be running/disposal clean. Based on trial and error, I've found that the best way to use them (at least for my disposal) is to pop the bag into the disposer with a trickle of water (as instructed). When I received this order it was not packaged as shown in the photo used to purchase. It actually came in a transparent thin zipped bag with a white label identifying the product. This is the first time I've bought a Revain trash cleaner, although I've been buying them from my local supermarket for years. I think Glisten might be one of them because one of them must have had blue foam pouring out of the appliance into the sink. I've been using Plink brand small waste cleaning balls for many years and am not thrilled with their effectiveness because they give off a citrus scent for about a minute and then my removal immediately reverted to a foul smell.
