Works well with Ronin-S

. It works fine with Ronin-S, but you are limited to Ronin-S main unit only. So when you add a handle, it becomes difficult, if not impossible, to move the focus.

Pros
  • , also understandable for old
Cons
  • . There are problems

A must for DJI Ronin S

The focus on the tips is great. So far I've only used this with Canon lenses. It does a fantastic job, but you'll also need a focus knob if you haven't already bought one. There is no lag when you focus. The engine is strong.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • A few bits and pieces

Not included

This might not be a problem for some, but it was for me. The built in focus wheel control with my Canon 6dMk2 and Canon USM II 24-70mm lens was so noisy and jerky that I couldn't rack and pinion focus or could pull focus (even at full slowdown). I was going to install a new focus motor and it seems to be working, but with such a heavy lens and no risers I couldn't quite get it back into balance. Bought a vertical plate from DJI and everything is fine. Works great for the oily, smooth focus…

Underrated Motor

I think most people use Core Nano motors but DJI alone is very underrated for its performance. First, it works with the native focus wheel, which is a big plus. But most importantly, it has way more torque than I thought it would. Calibration is very easy and mostly just works. A focus motor is a MUST if you have manual focus lenses, there really is no good way to shoot with a gimbal and manual focus lens without a motor. If your camera has autofocus and it's good, you probably don't need it.

  • Camera & Photo
Cons
  • Expensive

Something is missing

The only thing I have against it is that I concentrate on my screen when recording (maybe you too). While recording while looking at the screen, I use the DJI Ronin-S Part 17 focus motor when needed. The problem is that when the motor gets to the extreme right or left, it won't stop working and shatters my lens. Sometimes even an unpleasant noise can be heard. It's terrible. For me it has to have a system that stops the motor when it gets to the extreme right or left. This is very important to…

So loud and noisy you can't use it

I've bought this focus motor 3 times and sent it back each time. The engine was so loud that it was impossible to use it. Much louder than the Ronin S motors, which are nice and quiet. I think DJI may have made a bad batch and the sellers are trying to unload it here on Amazon. I called DJI every time I got one and they were of little help. I really wanted this to work as I love DJI products but the noise coming from this motor rendered it unusable. I've tried it with multiple lenses at a time,
