I bought this part after my original part broke. It worked perfectly except for the inside edge in the case. I had to drill it out to fit the internals on my factory 2000 4Runner SR5.

Just won't work with the 4Runner keychain. The rear sunroof button is used to open the trunk. Then to make matters worse, the guts of the original keychain DO NOT fit properly. The Dorman key fob has an edge that gets in the way of the circuit board.

This perfectly repaired a broken remote control for our 2003 Toyota Camry. It took about 15 seconds to open the new case, open the old broken case and change the insides. Didn't have to change anything to make it work. Those who are modifying them for a different type of Toyota vehicle will likely need to head straight to the Dorman website and find exactly what they need for their make and model. These things don't need to be changed for them to work.

Despite the opinion of other reviewers, it can be used on different cars. In my case this is a 1999 Lexus EC300. This case was very similar to mine so I bought it. Yes, the interior is a little different. Just take a knife and a dremel and cut the burrs on the inside so the chips lay properly on the floor. Then use the buttons on the original remote again. This is the cheapest solution I could find when my key fob ended up breaking. However, the reports are correct. This is for a Camry and needs to be modified for my 2005 4Runner. The inner back has a protrusion that is too high to fit. Grinding was relatively easy, but now my panic button doesn't work. And annoyingly, the rear window button is actually a trunk button.
