🔧 DORMAN 912-009 Hood Release Cable: A Reliable and Convenient Solution for Easy Car Maintenance Review

Almost perfect for my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The only problem is that the bushing next to the hood lock didn't fit snugly into the lock's body. I had to do something to keep it from falling out of the latch. Small problem for me. Otherwise it works fine.

The cable is a direct replacement for the original equipment. It is necessary to use the original parts (screws/clamps/etc.) to attach the new cable, but a relatively simple operation is completed in less than half an hour. The only problem I had was that the end of the cable sleeve didn't fit snugly in the "keyhole" on the car, but an easy workaround was to secure it with a zip tie.

The fit was good. As with others, after about a month the wiring harness came loose from the hood latch housing and I had to use a zip tie to hold it in place. Thank goodness it happened while the grill was off when I had to reach in and pull it out with tongs. Take my advice and zip it up when installing. Don't think the notch will stay in place.
