They're not just for boots and shoes. They can be used on anything you tie or lace up. When I use it, I no longer have to tie my shoes. Are you saying it's nothing to worry about? Wait until you get arthritis in your fingers.

I bought about a dozen twill drawstring shorts at my local store, no matter how hard I tried, they wouldn't tie so they weren't hanging around my waist. These little button ties are perfect for holding up your shorts.

I was a bit surprised at how small they are. Get a piece of 8mm paracord through the hole just melting the end and tapering to a point. However, this did not become an obstacle for me. they hold up well. I used them for the masks I made during our Covid pandemic. I sew the paracord into the mask in the form of ties and use these cord locks to make the mask adjustable to fit snugly around the face.
