It was much easier to install new bushings with these pliers than without. Before I got them I just bought a small shim kit with a small piece of wood to secure it. This worked well when it was possible to mount the jacks on a flat horizontal surface. However, when trying to mount them vertically without a vertical face on the back, it was an almost impossible task. This tool won't cut fabric, had to use scissors. When I used it for eyelets, it didn't work well with eyelets either. The effort required to squeeze the grommets together is considerable and certainly beyond the strength of some hands.
