🧵 Dritz 3066 Leather Thimble: One-Size-Fits-All Protection for Sewing, Quilting, and Craftmaking in White Review

I embroider a lot and need leather finger guards. I received them very quickly. They fit snugly around my fingertips, but I know the leather will stretch with more use. The skin is long and very tough. I had to shorten it so I could bend my finger. It was a very bad choice on my part. I couldn't maneuver my fingers to knit.

I'll rip the seams and rebuild this thing. I've been wearing this (almost) the same leather protector for years and have never had a problem. This new style sucks. The leather is worn across the back of the finger and the elastic is completely crumpled on the inside as if the stitching had never been finished. Too bad the old style has been replaced by this junk.

I have been using this type of thimble for years and am very happy with it. I recently had to buy a new one because the other one wore out after a few years of use. The new one is too tight and I couldn't pull it all the way through. In the finger hole I found a bundle of elastic tissue. I was able to pull it out and trim it, but the thimble is still too tight and doesn't fit comfortably. Just not the quality.

I always use this thimble for hand sewing. Since I needed a new one, I finally ordered it. I realized that he was very small and extremely tough. I partially turned it inside out and cut out a huge piece of extra stretch fabric. This made the thimble fit a little better, but excessive stiffness is still a problem. I'm sad because I've always loved these thimbles, but they've changed a lot.

The "little" metal Dritz thimble is a bit big for my fingers, but this leather thimble is a bit tight which is great, it doesn't slip! I use it for my hindquarters when quilting. Update: After trying to stretch this thimble and make it comfortable and flexible, it didn't relax at all. It is very hard and long, very difficult to use. It stays in my sewing box so my kids have a thimble to "help" me with.
