Excellent display performance, easy to read

We bought two of these digital sensors and installed them in a custom PVC switch box. You control each leg of our generator when it's running. The meters were easy to use and the displays very easy to read! We are very happy with this purchase and would recommend these digital meters to anyone looking to improve their generator setup with volt/amp readings.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not the best

Worked great! Best in Lighting and Electronics

I installed a switch for my generator and needed something to control the draw (current) when the generator is on to better ensure that I don't get too close to the alternator rating of 50 amps per leg. The display size is just right to fit in a 4x4x4 junction box with enough space for wiring. Remember that if you want to monitor consumption on both branches of the 120/240V network, you need two displays.

  • Lots of positive vibes

consistent accuracy

I have 3 of these to monitor a 3 phase alternator and have only tested them on the dyno so far. All 3 read the same. In order for the display to be bright, it must be at least 50 volts. I increased the current to 7 amps and everything reads the same. The 'Instructions' on the Amazon page is a bit odd regarding connectivity. Several reviewers mentioned that reading the amp never worked. If you're not familiar with current transformers, you might not have realized that the wire has to go through…

Good meter Poor documentation

The concept of the meter is good. The simultaneous display of volts and amperes is very useful. The accuracy is about 2%. But it doesn't measure low current well. To measure a low current, e.g. B. 10A, wrap 10 turns of the load cable through the sensor. Then it works quite well. You need to take a marker and add a decimal point to the current display. It would be nice if there was documentation with a counter. Also worth noting is the addition of more turns to increase sensitivity. It would be…

Inexpensive but useful - Meters

I tested this with a Klein CL700 clamp meter and found that even at the minimum current setting the meter was consistently a little too high, maybe as much as 10%. That's fine for my application, which uses it to monitor generator load, but you have to know that you get what you pay for with this meter. Because of the size, I was able to widen a regular dimmer wall plate a bit and easily fit this meter in the hole. The pictures are not very clear, but the voltage and current adjustment…

Pros
  • Easy to connect - the voltage and ammeter is powered by the circuit being measured, no additional power source needs to be connected.
Cons
  • Difficult to say

Bright, easy-to-read numbers.

Bought two of these to test my alternator load phase balance and found it to be a good little meter for the price. However, they are not well suited for this application as they are only displayed in 1 amp increments. This may be ok if used for high current applications like a main current field. However, unless you're running it on a real high-power generator, you really need a meter that can provide resolution in at least 0.1 amp increments. Also, both gauges were slightly off during…

Excellent solution for load monitoring of generator circuits

I needed a voltage and current control solution for my generator that is connected to my main lock. I wanted a solution next to the panel and not at the generator so I can see exactly how much I'm stressing the generator when I turn on each circuit. If you're unfamiliar with the interlock, it's an electrician-installed safety interlock switch that requires the incoming main circuit to be disconnected before the generator circuit can be energized - which then powers the entire panel in your…
