Many years later I decided to abandon the original filter. Because it was taking so long I decided to replace the Dyson, even though it's more expensive than some of the aftermarket replacements. Replacement parts can be a perfect fit but I felt the original part was worth the extra cost as it worked so well. It fits perfectly and the vacuum cleaner sucks much better. I should have replaced it sooner!

At first I read comments from people who bought other, cheaper filters and the headaches that came with them didn't seem like a few bucks saved to me.
