The front pocket is not waterproof. See photo. This card fell out of the box the first time I opened it. Funny that this is NOT advertised in the description on the product page. The straps and back pad are not quite as waterproof. I'm not looking for full waterproofing like diving (there are other bags for that) but when I'm commuting to work in the rain I really want all the external parts to be waterproof.

Comfortable waterproof backpack - excellent customer service

Surprisingly comfortable for day trips. Walked down the Grand Canyon in 22 days. This was my backpack that I've used to run 3500 feet from the river to the rim multiple times with no back pain or hotspots. Customer service was excellent. Towards the end of the voyage, and after they had been badly beaten more than 200 miles down the river, there was a 1 inch thick section of seam that was unsealed. When I got back from my trip I contacted Earth Pak and they sent a brand new package. told me to…

Great quality along with strong customer service!

Let me start by saying you can have the best product in the world but if you lack customer service all bets are off. This is my fifth Eart Pak bag. I'm a dive instructor and also spend a lot of time on my sailboat so I need quality bags to keep my clothes and gear clean and dry. I have used other bags but the Earth Pak is the best I have ever owned. I had a little problem with one of the straps and told Scott, one of the founders of the company, about it. Not only did he apologize for the…

Not suitable for river kayaking

We bought three of these for kayaking. I used them on a trip and was very disappointed in them. Two of our kayaks capsized in the rough water and the two backpacks on those kayaks were submerged in the water for several minutes. None of them kept the contents dry. They didn't spill a lot, but enough to get the contents quite wet. Meanwhile, not a single drop of water escaped from any of the cheap WalMart drybags on any of the capsized kayaks. I would make money just by buying extra cheap dry…

Potentially dangerous.?

I don't often write really bad reviews. Here. The biggest issue with this product is that it looks and feels like an actual piece of gear as opposed to an urban or casual carry-on. This, combined with a complete lack of reliability, makes it not only of little value but also potentially dangerous. Broke after 4 or 5 uses. Do you understand. Potentially dangerous? Isn't that a little dramatic? Well, for the city on a rainy day it is enough. The danger would be if someone took this backpack to…

I love this backpack!

Oh these dry bag backpacks are bees' knees. To be honest, although it's BASIC for boat trips, camping and other super wet places, I also use it as my one-bag travel bag for flying. I've spent more on cool duffel bags for single bag travel, but now I use them more often than not. That's why. It is 100% waterproof compared to the "mostly waterproof" more expensive TPU cases. The ENTIRE bag is easily wiped/washed when covered in sand or other debris (bring beach towels, snorkeling gear and other…

Waterproof and spacious but poor weight distribution and HEAVY

PROS: 1) This bag kept all my stuff dry during an outdoor photo shoot in the Revane rainforest 2) This 55ml bag was acceptable. international carry-on baggage in both the United States and Peru via El Salvador, as well as on flights within Peru. It was great not checking the bag. CONS: 1) The weight distribution of this bag is terrible - I was hoping the weight would rest on my hips like high end bags, but the entire weight of the bag hung off my shoulders for the entire 2 week hike. Because I…

For Costa Rica - loved it!

Bought this bag for my son's trip to Costa Rica. We planned on hiking a lot and wanted a bag to carry on the back, something waterproof and generally bug resistant. When it arrived I was very happy with the overall quality. My son, who was planning on bringing a canvas bag with a vintage look, decided to get an Earth Pak for our trip. These bags and their contents were all we had for two weeks of camping and hiking. Thanks to its size, we were able to take our Earth Pak on all our flights and…
