Electronic Specialties 530 DVA Multimeter Review

This multimeter has replaced a device that has been in use for over 25 years. It worked flawlessly and you can't beat the price compared to some of our dedicated providers.

If you're interested in outboard motor electronic diagnostics, this is what you need. Works perfectly! In fact, it's the same block as the one pictured in my Mercury service manual.

Works when switching to the resistive section only when the rotary knob is pressed lightly. The resistance adjustment knob is also slightly bent.

Used to check peak voltages on outboard motors and more. And that's four times less than the Stephen I used. There are several digital gauges that can be used with an adapter, but I find the analog gauge much easier to read. I am satisfied and the quality is ok.

This is an old school analog gauge. You have to set the dial range, and there's no auto-off feature, but that was the only feature inexpensive enough to justify the purchase for casual use. I had to test TWO on a boat motor. This counter allowed me to properly diagnose the problem and order the correct part. Since ordering the wrong part would have been a two hundred dollar mistake, the gauge was a good investment.

This gauge is recommended for analysis of capacitive discharge ignition and charging systems for small engines. Received my first meter and it was defective. I got full scale readings, nothing was consistent or no reading at all. I called the ESI manufacturer 3 times with no answer. While trying to get additional readings, I accidentally touched the selector and found the readings became more stable.
