The right angle makes my desk look a bit cleaner as it doesn't stick out much on the side of my laptop and is long enough to reach the back of my desk and connect to the hub. The braided casing is a bit thicker than other cables I have such as B. Anker phone cord, so it's almost too thick to attach the cord clips I use to manage cords on my desk. Bought for aesthetic reasons. I wish there were fewer cables on my desk. However, the female USB-C connector needs to be connected in a specific way for all USB 2.0 devices to work. So my mouse and keyboard don't work when connected the same way, but when I flip them over, they work. I bought this cable to connect a thunderbolt dock to my laptop so the protruding cable doesn't stick out the side of the laptop 3" and possibly snag on something remains maybe break the USB-C connector. I now have a nice right angle dongle that only sticks out 3/4" from the side and my heavy Thunderbolt dock cable neatly tucked away in the back of the laptop.
