Crankshaft oil seal does not fit Mazda Miata

Overall good price for water pump oil seals. However, the Mazda 1.8L crankshaft oil seal is wrong. Therefore, you have to buy crankshaft and camshaft seals separately.

Pros
  • Seals
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly

Crankshaft Oil Seal Oil Leak

The crankshaft oil seal on my 2003 Mazda Miata is loose and leaking oil. I had to disassemble it twice and reinstall the entire timing belt before realizing the gasket was the problem. Spent a few days at work and still had to order the original Miata OEM crankshaft seal.

Pros
  • Automotive
Cons
  • Hard to notice but it was

Economical Gasket Pack

For the price of one (1) Mazda OEM or Ishino Crankshaft Seal you can have this complete set that comes with National Crankshaft Seal 710355. I used all the other gaskets and give the crankshaft oil seal as I already had a Timken. It's made in Mexico if you're interested. I wouldn't sweat it. I know most Miata types will not use anything other than Japanese Mazda OEM or Ishino seals. But remember that this is basically a Protege engine. If the rest of the car was a Protege, would you still…

Pros
  • Timing Cover Gasket Kits
Cons
  • Not as thick as other kits
