Our Dyson started blowing the post motor filter off its mount after about 5 minutes of use. When I googled the question, it turned out that the filter could be clogged. I decided to replace the native filter (it has been washed several times and is also about 5 years old). The vacuum cleaner is quieter and works almost like new. I will say that the filters appear to be made of a lighter material than the original and only time will tell if they hold up. Will be updated if my impression changes.

After changing the filter my Dyson DC25 is like new again! Fantastic and a lot cheaper than a new vacuum! When the vacuum cleaner started overheating I thought it was dead. After some internet research for symptoms, the suggestions mostly related to clogged filters. Apparently we forgot to read, understand and fully understand the filter and maximum level instructions! Filter that fits in the ball doesn't fit well, makes a clicking noise when you move the cleaner forward and blocks the ball when you pull it back - I cleaned the old filter carefully and reused it. If I took my time I could probably figure out which part of the plastic case was too big and clicking, but I've got better things to do than fiddle with something that should have worked from the start. The last order I will be placing is for this aftermarket filter kit.

Like many reviewers, the HEPA filter fell **completely** in layers (when I first washed the filter). See photo from another buyer. It was held together in various places with a few tiny drops of glue that melted through the use of a vacuum.
