Vitamin D3 Free Calcium Supplement for Reptiles by Fluker's Review

I bought this for my quail to supplement with calcium. Ideal! They were happy and I get a lot of eggs with hard shells and sometimes even extra limescale.

I didn't get the calcium powder as in the picture but a feed tube that fits in the aquarium. Wanted to return but decided on my turtle. Bought calcium from a local pet store. I'm pretty sure that was the initial confusion about the product. If you order Calcium, I hope you get the product😊 Hooray!

Most reptiles need three types of supplements: Calcium with D3, multivitamins and Calcium without D3. I use calcium without D3 to always keep in a bowl in my leopard gecko tank. I love that it's just pure calcium, no other vitamins or minerals to worry about. Be careful whether you buy calcium with or without D3 as they are two different things!

As many others have pointed out, mine also arrived with the lid unscrewed. I was lucky it was still on the tin but was very loose and leaked a bit. A few more nudges on delivery and I probably would have gotten an envelope full of powder. Even without a top seal, a simple piece of tape stuck to the lid during manufacture prevents it from unscrewing. It's a good value as I paid less than $1 for it but not much when it arrived empty.

Firstly, the calcium pack definitely doesn't look like it because I personally use calcium in it - that's where I stick my crickets and sprinkle them. Came in a small container. I use it in a food prep container that I also bought on Amazon. I highly recommend dusting off with one of these because it's fast and efficient. Calcium seems to work! My geckos showed no signs of calcium deficiency. It's cheap and arrived on time. Definitely enough for a while.

I bought this calcium supplement expecting it to be free of vitamin D3 and phosphorus as shown in the picture but found another on receipt Label as shown in the photo I took. I asked customer service if it contained phosphorus and was told that calcium without d3 contains phosphorus and calcium with d3 contains no phosphorus. One, then the other, but not both. I did a direct comparison with Zoo Med's "Repti-Calcium" because there is a myth in the reptile community that "Flukers Calcium isn't good for your reptiles" . As the owner of 13 reptiles that require calcium I can tell you that Fluker Calcium is actually one of the best as it is sourced from natural limestone powder. This is amazing! I spent less than $4 for three containers, making FAR the cheapest calcium supplement I've found. Don't be fooled by the price, although it's great! I don't have reptiles, but I do have some aquatic animals, including shrimp and snails, that require more calcium than even my hard Missouri water can provide. Availability Reptiles must be powdered with calcium at each feeding. It is best to take Calcium WITHOUT D3 daily and Calcium WITH D3 once a week. Unfortunately, the pet store chains around me never sell without D3. This stuff is what you need! For crickets/roaches I use a plastic bag and put a little inside.
