Description of 🔴 Fulton 4 inch to 2 1/2 inch Reducer Fitting: Enhancing Dust Collection and Machinery Connections

The Fulton 4 Inch to 2 1/2 inch reducer has been designed with a specific purpose in mind. That purpose is to connect the industry standard 4 inch diameter dust collection hose with the other industry standard 2 1/2 inch diameter dust collection hose. With a couple of hose clamps (not included) this reducer does its job perfectly and more!. One of the reasons that this fitting is used so often within the woodworking industry, is that many of us don’t want or need a large dust collection system in our garage or workshop. With this fitting, you’ll be able to reduce your hose size down to the 2 1/2 inch size which the most commonly used size for most big box store wet/dry vacuums and shop vacuums. This cone shaped reducer can be also be used on machinery with a little help from some other accessories. Typically the reducer works with hose since it is basically the same size as your 4 inch and 2 1/2 inch machinery or shop wet/dry vac ports. With a 4 inch diameter rubber coupler (sold separately) or a short section of 4 inch hose you can connect the reducer directly to a 4 inch port on machines like band saws, table saws, large planers and more. Most wet/dry vacuum hoses will plug directly into the smaller end of this fitting making it a super value for most of us weekend warrior type woodworkers. There are some vacuum units that use different size hoses and hose adaptors so please be sure to measure your hose and machine ports before making a purchasing decision. Made from high quality ABS plastic for extended periods of use, this fitting will withstand the constant friction and debris flow of woodworking dust collectors. The reducer measures: Nominal 4 inch end is 3-61/64” OD and 3-41/64” ID; 2-1/2” nominal OD end measures 2-15/32” OD and 2-9/32” ID. All of the dimensions may slightly vary due to slight variations in the manufacturing process.

A good connector at a reasonable price!

This 4" to 2 1/2" plug will meet your expectations. This is a good hard plastic with a beveled male end. It's reasonably priced, on Prime, was as described and arrived on time. cool

An additional adapter for the dust separator is required.

My table saw head and socket are 4 inches. This adapter is also 4 inches tall. They don't connect directly. I had to buy a 4" pipe connector at my local hardware store and tape the adapter around to ensure a tight fit. After that everything works fine.

4 " to 2 1/2 " Adapter

I bought a new saw that didn't have a 4" dust collection hole. That was excellent. It takes a 2 1/2" hose that inserts the way you insert a brush or blade into a shop vacuum. This is a 4" fitting with a 2 1/2" female thread. Well made, works Well.

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • Guard

Doesn't work with Rockler fittings

Product is useless to me. The 4 inch portion appears to be designed to fit a female fitting. It is not compatible with my Rockler dustbin connectors. This is the exact same OD so it doesn't fit in in any way. I'm not sure what to use it for. Definitely needs a better description. Buyer Warning.

You will need the transition

So many BIG tools and gadgets use 4 inches, but my small shop generally needs 2 1/2 inches or less. This transition works well because it tapers. I use it to go from a large gulp under my table saw to a 2 1/2 inch hose further down my system. It seems to easily maintain suction even when scaled down. Some dust collection parts are interchangeable with plumbing fittings. , but most sizes do not match. So if you need a specific part you have to pay shipping and get a real dust collector like…
