It is the perfect size for a weekend, but if you are a light packer you could easily use this for a long weekend or more. I got this bag to hold my PPE for light constriction projects.The material is thin, don't put anything that has exposed, sharp points.It will likely cut the thin material. Haven't submerged it in water to test water resistance or if it would float.Hosing it with a garden hose has no problems. Second, when I got it I was pleased with my purchase after going thru the item. Third, to this day I have not used the backpack as we have not been traveling. I cannot say enough about this bag. For a recent trip to Mexico, we could only carry 30 lbs. with us due to being on a small plane for transport. Unfortunately this bag does not have an outer water bottle holder. I need to reach and access my water bottle w/o having to place it inside my bag! If they simply added that this would be an awesome bag. But, that was a deal breaker for me.

Overall, this bag does the job. We got it with the intention to use it for hiking because we live in the Pacific Northwest and venture outdoors often. I bought two of these to use as carryons for my husband and I for a weekend trip. They worked perfectly! They were comfortable and easy to carry through the airport, and the fact that they have soft sides made them easier to squish into the overhead compartments.We’ve also taken just one and have plenty of room for an overnight for our family of four.
