Great device and Garmin support.

This is the second Montana I have bought. The 610 seems better than the old 600. I added a 32GB micro SD card and now I have enough space for maps, caches etc. I like the ability to customize the menus and put them in my own show preferred order. . I also like the large screen size and the ability to log finds right on the device. Garmin support has been great for some of my questions. I would highly recommend this device to anyone for geocaching or just finding their way to places.

Perfect for outdoor use

I finally upgraded from a 10 year old 76csx due to failing eyesight and needing a slightly larger screen. I can't believe the customization options available on this thing. I'll never use most of what this thing can do. I was initially skeptical about buying a Montana because it's slightly larger than a 76csx, but I've adapted. Cross country skiing and trekking where we have been on tourist trips. Overall I am very happy with this purchase. By the way, I very rarely give a product 5 stars.

Something is wrong here!

The device works fine EXCEPT if you use routes regularly. Regardless of how route markers are displayed in mapping software, they appear as large blue flags on Garmin handhelds (including Montana). Blue flags block many chart details, including waypoint identification numbers. The photo was taken from base camp using the same blue flag symbol and map as Montana. The photo shows the blocking effect of large blue flags. The flag sign cannot be changed. You can't select a smaller, less intrusive…

Nothing is perfect, but Garmin makes the best outdoor GPS navigators.

Nothing is perfect, but Garmin offers the best outdoor GPS devices. I bike a lot (5000 miles a year or so). And I have a lousy sense of direction. Bike GPS is a requirement for me. I love Garmin's. You are tall. they are heavy And they are very, very hard. My previous GPS was a Garmin 450. For five years it has worked flawlessly in very cold weather, very hot weather, heavy rain and everything else. He survived many bumps, many bumps and even a few falls. Recently the power button stopped…

Unintuitive user interface and some frustrating usability issues

I bought this unit to replace a Delorme PN-60 I had for a few years. I use the GPSr primarily for hiking and geocaching and have owned several over the years from DeLorme, Garmin and Magellan. I chose the Montana 610 mainly for its higher accuracy (hopefully GLONASS support) and larger screen. Unfortunately, my previous impressions have led me to believe that this was a huge mistake. Main problems: The documentation is terrible. There isn't much printed material that comes with the device…
