The Ridiculous Handheld GPS Manual

The Legend H is my very first GPS receiver. If this is your situation, be prepared to spend quite a bit of time online or in the library to learn how to use this device, because the Garmin-supplied "manual" isn't worth the paper it's on is printed. And don't look for help on the Garmin website. Quick example: Legend H is WAAS compatible, so of course you need to enable WAAS. But if your legend doesn't see either of the two WAAS satellites (mine does not yet) the accuracy of your legend will beโ€ฆ

Need to carry a GPS in your pocket? --- is the one you need to use.

I love this GPS! I work in the oil industry and have a constant need for reliable GPS coordinates for a variety of reasons, and this fits the bill for me. I literally took one around the world. The only place I took him where he wasn't working was on a drive near military training areas. Given the proximity, I'm not really surprised. First the pros; It works. Accuracy depends on many things, mostly cover, but it can drop to 15ft accuracy. Rarely more than 100 m. Itโ€ฆ

inexpensive, simple

I recently purchased this unit to replace an eTrex Venture that was starting to fail after 7 years of heavy use (several falls from 10ft resulted in partial screen failure). After a week of intensive use I am very satisfied. The eTrex Legend H has a significantly better antenna than my old device and picks up satellites faster. I've even used it a few times to pick up a signal in heavy concrete structures, although metal (car bodies) still affects it heavily (100 feet or more on average). Itโ€ฆ
