Works with corded and cordless phones, fax machines, satellite receivers, modems and answering systems. Works throughout the house, even between floors. Does not work when the device is plugged into a power strip, universal power supply or surge protector. Do not plug in to a surge protector, device has built-in surge suppression. Good product! Highly recommended!

Great product! Highly recommended! I managed to connect a landline phone to a building more than 50 meters from home! We hear static on the line, but I think it's our electrical DSL line. The device itself, if plugged into a suitable power line without interference, should work fine at a distance of 150-200 feet, which I have tested!

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • A few little things

Works as advertised. We had a line stack that used one outlet, but it disappeared when we installed it in a different outlet. Can't explain the hiss on the line but I'm not complaining as it did the job. Call quality drops off a bit when using this device but for the price it's definitely a 4 star product that I would recommend.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Socket required

Works as described. You must read the description.

Works as described. You must read the description. It seems that most of the negative reviews were written by people who ordered the wrong product they needed. This is for the voice line. If you want to connect a data line (fax or modem), there are others. Another thing is that you have to plug it directly into the socket. It will not work when plugged into an extension cord or surge protector.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Waiting time too long

Works exactly as described

I bought a GE TL86597 InstaJack for my wife's accounting business. For some odd reason, her office didn't have a real RJ-45 jack, but there was one in the kitchen. Installation was easy. Connect the receiver (with two connectors on the side) to the connector closest to the available RJ-45 connector. Connect a standard phone cord. Then connect the satellite device to the desired socket and your phone to this device. We have a Verizon FiOS VoiP service and it works great with it.

GE TL86597 InstaJack Wireless Phone Jack

Bought this for my dad to use as an extra phone line for a heart monitor. That works great! He was concerned about adding another phone line to the house and I told him not to worry. There is an easier way. Plug it in, connect the phone line, repeat the same process in another room and you're done. I was a bit concerned because they live in an old trailer, but everything worked out. I would recommend this for those who need a different phone line in a different room.

Perfect for our application

Perfect for our application. I have Vonage running on our home phone network. However, we bought a 1960's Stromberg Carlson 500 rotary phone and placed it where there was no telephone outlet. InstaJack works great, allowing an old phone to send (pulse dial) and receive calls (with an accompanying vintage ringtone). I installed an Instajack transmitter in the upstairs bedroom where there was an empty phone jack and another piece of Instajack installed downstairs where the phone is. Isn't…

Good product but you need to know a little about the wiring in your house

This product works great for me. There is one small catch that might be frustrating for some users: I think this product is not some kind of "wireless phone extender" but sends signals over the existing house wiring. If the base and sink are connected to the same branch, this will work. If not, then not. That's why I find that some outlets in my house work and others don't. Luckily, the outlet next to where I want the handset is the same junction as the outlet next to the phone jack. This also…

Pros
  • Finally bought it
Cons
  • Update available

Don't be fooled by one star - it could be five stars.

A one star rating may not be fair, so let me explain. It didn't work for me, but it might work fine for someone else. I bought this for my 90 year old mother who is in a nursing home. The phone base is next to her bed, but her chair, which she sits in most of the day, is across the room. I had to replace her wireless handset with a wired hearing aid. As the matriarch of our family, she lives for her phone calls! She needed a phone next to a chair; hence the phone jack. I called tech support…

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
