Well designed for 3/8" or smaller rubber hose, not 1/2" or larger. The 1/2" rubber coolant hose shown in the photo cannot be pinched. It's well made so I'm keeping it for smaller hoses.

These little tools are great for smaller hoses (less than 3/8" or 10mm) where I couldn't use my large radiator hose wrench. They are strong and completely pinch the hose for a long time. Release is easy, just spread the handles.

I have several sizes, some sizes are larger than one. Saves an enormous amount of time as there is no need to drain and refill the entire coolant system; simply pinch off the hoses and the components can be removed. Useful for debugging as it allows you to isolate components while the system is running. Brilliant!

Another specific tool for a specific job, I like its action once it stays clamped on the hose. You have to move your hands to let go. It's smaller than I thought, good for tiny tubing, but designed for 3/4 tubing. I think if you put it on the hose where the hose starts to compress it will fit, but it's smaller than it looks.
