Pays for itself the first time you use it.

Premium quality, easy to use and 100 times more effective than trying to hold a pulley with a pry bar or wrench. I bought this to install a water pump on a 2007 Blazer and it made the impossible possible.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Durable

Bought for a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2L

Worked to keep the pulley on my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2L truck. Nothing fancy, set the wrench and put the pins on the pulley while some of them loosen the fan nut and we quickly got the job done replacing my water pump.

Pros
  • Good product for its price
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Not worth the best engine tools

I bought this to replace the water pump on a 2005 Envoy and honestly I wouldn't recommend it. Constantly flies off the bolts. It doesn't really have a locking mechanism, so if you don't twist it a certain way, it just pops open. It was more of a pain than a benefit.

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • Legacy model

Worked well for me in Engine Tools

Helped me with my 2001 Ford F150 5.4L engine. Use it on a radiator fan and A/C clutch. It's a bit of a learning curve to figure out, but it works well once you get the hang of it. It holds the head of a thumbscrew but also has short pins that fit into some of the pulley holes. I think it was good value for money. stronger than I expected.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Minor Repairability

Much better than parts dealers.

Used this with a 38mm serrated wrench to remove the fan clutch on my 02' 7.3L and have never been able to remove the fan clutch so easily. Tip: To prevent clutch slippage, leave the serpentine belt engaged until the clutch is disengaged, then remove the belt. The quality of the tool is excellent, will serve for many years. Easy to use.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Doubtful

Works well with a toothed wrench 3473

In the past I've had a lot of trouble replacing fan clutches. Having the right tools is of paramount importance. A 3473 wrench and this 3900 pulley holder made it possible to change the fan clutch on my 2000 F350 to 7.3 in no time. I used a 1/2" ratchet on the wrench for a little extra leverage. It was the original fan clutch, so the mother was 19 years and 235,000 miles on it. The whole repair didn't take long.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Negative side present

The original was broken I bought this replacement

I removed the fan clutch which had a right hand thread and the mechanic insisted the thread direction was left hand. When he applied a left-hand thread and hit the nut the wrong way, he broke the tool and rounded the edges of the nut [35mm] when using the wrong wrench [36mm]. I bought this exact replacement tool for a friend of mine who loaned me a broken tool. The replacement tool has not yet been used, but I hope I never have to replace a fan clutch again.

Pros
  • It's a pleasure
Cons
  • I'll write later

Some types of clutch fan need to be removed

This is one of those unusual tools that will make your life easier when used. I've used this when removing several clutch fans, which would have been an issue with any other method due to clearance issues. You need to make sure this tool is pointed in the right direction so it will hold the screws when you try to loosen them. This pulley holder has pretty thick arms, so I'm not worried about it bending or breaking if I hit a really stuck fan. So far it has served me well. I recommend!

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance
Cons
  • Operating Speed

Beware of gap problems

Bought to hold the water pump pulley to remove the fan clutch. I found it would hold up well, but due to the thickness of the ends I didn't have room for a large crescent wrench to turn the nut because it will rub against the tool and fan. And the short crescent wrench doesn't give you any leverage, especially if you have a fan cover that I couldn't remove first because it won't come out until the fan is removed. So in my case it would be better to use a long open-end wrench that is not as…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Secret
