Beginners in metalsmithing here and I think this gold leaf is great! However, I have nothing to compare. I covered a paper mache pumpkin with it and it turned out a nice rich orange-red copper color that looks like real copper. Therefore. I used a cheap brush and the bristles came loose giving the copper sheet a finished look.

I use these copper sheets for a pedestal bathtub. They are very thin, but leaf fall is like that. I recommend using the Mona Lisa Speedball size. I tried the Martha Stewart brand for some small glasses in a pinch and it was so terrible compared to the Mona Lisa. If you're doing a big project like me, I would definitely buy more than advertised. You end up losing quite a bit of what doesn't stick because you're overlaying it and giving the project the right look or second layer. I recommend it…

I bought this to gild a laser engraved logo on oiled rosewood. The only problem I had was masking such a small area and the wood grains were perpendicular to the direction of the etch so it was difficult to keep the pot holder from seeping into the unmasked areas - it of course tended to to follow the ridges of the rosewood.
