Wafer-thin "skin " no longer holds up after a short time

I recently bought this wallet and was very happy with the general idea that was embedded in the design, but the quality is clearly not up to par. And that's a shame because the detachable slip-on pocket, which is a great idea, is well designed to fit comfortably in a wallet, but the wallet itself is made of what appears to be paper-thin "leatherโ€ over another material that didn't hold the stitching at the bend (see photo). Two stars might be too much, but the wallet looks good.
