2018 MacBook Pro 15 " Car Battery Charging

19.9V @ 2.91A is the best I've seen with the car running and the MacBook Pro 15" i7 off (at 50% battery capacity). This corresponds to 57.9 watts. Using the same cable and meter with the MBP drained to 20% and plugged into an 87W Apple charger, I could see peak levels of up to 85W. The closer the laptop gets to a full charge, the fewer watts the battery will use when full. Maybe the charger would work harder if the battery level was below 50%? In a very brief test, the charger and USB adapterโ€ฆ

Cool concept, striking

I chose to work remotely in my RV. I wouldn't go DC to DC back to DC to power my MacBook, so why not get something that goes DC to DC? OK, so much for that. It's getting hot FAST. Then, before I've even charged more than 12% or so, it shuts down from overheating. So I pull it out and my laptop drains 10% battery before it feels cold again and I can start again with 12% power. I'm slowly regaining 2% of my laptop's battery at a time. until I alertly remember to check the temperature of thisโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Safety

Good product. Excellent customer service

The first Gissaral charger I received failed fairly early on in a 6 week trip. This was very discouraging as my MacBook was supposed to be my primary tool for navigating my route, finding possible stops and booking hotels. I have to say that my MacBook is 6 years old and the battery drains incredibly quickly. I wrote to Gissaral describing how I had verified that the problem was with the charger itself and they promptly sent me a replacement. On the next trip, the charger helped a lot and keptโ€ฆ

Like many others, he cremated and died. Warranty. :/

I bought this on July 1st 2020 and used it for 14 months until it died. I used it for about 70 days. It was clear very early on that he was very hot, too hot. I measured it at 160F so I immediately used some of the flexible USB fans we had (see image) that kept it "only" 110F (at 75F environs). โ€ and flashing red LED until you unplug and wait. > 18 months warranty and provide convenient and convenient support. 18 months is decent, but "already available" support is . doesn't seem to exist :(

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Ratio set

Worked with my Type-C devices

Build quality looks good. Bigger than my current 45W PD USB-C car charger. Consisting of car charger and USB-C adapter. I tested roughly. Let's look at the results. Input voltage 19.5V - [USB-A ports] Both support Apple 2.1A fast charge Each port could send 5.14V at 1.91A (9.86W) to my iPad. [USB-C Port] Only support PD, no other fast charging protocols. provides 60 watts. 15V can support about 64W output power, and 20V can reach 80W but support about 67W. I had no problem charging my 45W PDโ€ฆ

  • Worth the money

Love this for MacBook travel.

Edit: 7/12/2017 This is great for us streetfighters. Sometimes I almost forget I have it. I left my MacBook charger at home last week. I thought about buying another wall charger but remembered it in my truck. Large mannequin. lol Saved me money and fees very well. I saved my money for just a charger left at home. I mounted the charger out of sight behind the glove box, and the charging cable went through the dash into the cabin. Original: A good block from what I can tell, a little compactโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Sad device
