This item is very cheaply made. To make it work properly I had to modify the screw. Then add an extension cord to allow the generated air to enter the fire. It worked for several weeks, after which the internal mechanism of the fan fell off. It was not made to be used over very careful winding.

I prefer it to any other hand held fan method because it's more fun and uses less energy. it is safer than anything else. I can let my kid take care of the fire while I cook the meat. No more blowing with your mouth, no more waving a magazine. It's a cool new thing and super comfortable. That gives him real power. Absolutely cool thing when you grill on charcoal.

This item is clearly unreliable. However, it has incredible value. I've used it extensively to start a fire (legally) and it still works. This is very helpful for starting a fire. I'd suggest adding some tape to attach the metal tip to the blower, but other than that it's holding up well. If it ever breaks I will buy it again. Suitable for camping, wood stoves and grills. The metal exhaust pipe is not attached to the device and will fall off. I had to glue. The bearings were a bit sticky and required dry graphite lube and hard, fast cranking to buff the bearings to actually turn the fan knob without feeling like a handful of sand got into the fan.
