Well I received them yesterday and they were well packed in the box with little chance of breaking in transit, BUT I found most of them broke right off the edges of the glass and formed very sharp edges. Lids should be dishwasher safe but are shrunk and won't fit in containers. FIX: I was very wrong about the lids. These are great containers but they say the jar is BPA free but they don't mention plastic lids which is dodgy. However, I bought them and after my first use I quickly realized that these lids are tight. That's good and bad as I couldn't even tear the lid off after unlocking it. If you have mobility issues, arthritis or grip/strength issues this may not be for you. I have never experienced this. Luckily I ran it under hot water and took it off. Updated 9/2021. Make sure the lids are in the exact center of the container; When you do this, the lids close easily. I've gradually replaced our old plastic containers (some of them didn't even have a recycling symbol on them...that's how old they were) with glass containers. This set was exactly what I needed. So I really like them. I feel that the use of glass to store food is better controlled than plastic. I like that they can be stacked together for easy closet storage.
