Pros
- Two months have passed since the purchase of the smartphone and it's time to write a review. Google Pixel 4a is a smartphone that does not cause a “wow effect”, but at the same time it is able to surprise. But first things first. In December I started looking for a replacement for my old three year old Motorola G5s. It so happened that when I started choosing a smartphone, I came to the conclusion that I did not like any of the new models. I reviewed a bunch of reviews: Xiaomi, Oneplus, Samsung, Oppo - and I didn’t like any of the phones of these brands. They all seemed to be faceless copies of each other. It got to the point that I began to seriously think about switching to the iPhone and considered buying the 11th model. But then all of a sudden I came across a review of the Pixel 4a and somehow I immediately liked it. I hesitated for a long time and still chose the pixel. The choice was affected by the almost two times lower price compared to the iPhone, and more importantly, Apple's package that was cut this year. As a result, I did not regret the choice and immediately proceed to the advantages of the device: + Compactness. In my opinion, the size of the smart is almost perfect. A balance has been struck between compactness and comfortable display size. + Camera. The camera on the pixel is one, but it's just great. It may well compete with the flagships, not to mention its price category where it has no equal. + Branded shell. Everything is obvious here, ates directly from Google, 3 years of support. It's rare on android. The shell itself is quite convenient, although for about two weeks I got used to the controls. I don’t know what will happen in a year or two, but so far everything flies. No lags and freezes were noticed, despite not the top-end processor. There are also interesting features like detecting a song playing in the background. + Sound. Stereo speakers provide good sound quality. At maximum volume, of course, I do not recommend listening, but in general the sound is very decent. + Pleasant vibration feedback.
Cons
- There are also disadvantages. They are not critical at all, but they should be noted: - Autonomy. In fact, not everything is so bad, but against the backdrop of giant xiaomi batteries, the pixel has nothing to brag about. The smartphone will last a day and a half with moderate use. With bluetooth turned on, the battery drains very quickly. Always on also increases consumption, so I turned it off. In general, I have enough charge for the day, but no more. In screen time, it's about 4-5 hours. - AMOLED display. First, there is PWM. For the first time after switching from IPS, my eyes and head hurt when used at low brightness. Now it seems to be already used and not so much disturbing, but perhaps other people will be different. Secondly, there are problems with the display of white. Compared to IPS, it has some kind of dirty tint + if you look at the smartphone at an angle, the screen starts to shimmer in different colors. But still, in general, I like the display, especially the perfect black color. I put a dark theme and everything suits me.
