🏊 Floaty Backdoor for GoPro Review

I bought this as a 'gift' after accidentally destroying the one that was already attached to my friend's GoPro. Guys, don't peel off the orange sponge after application; he must remain there until the end of eternity. Not sure about the mechanics, but the real plastic door has a latch that it comes with - no need to squeeze it like a gorilla and push out a real sponge. I was stupid. Anyway, since I bought her this replacement, she seems to have forgiven me.

I bought two, one for my Hero 3 Black and one for my Hero 3+ Black. It looks like they sent me an updated version with the Hero 5 backdoor as well as the "default" backdoor. Note that the "default" backdoor does NOT work for the original Hero 3! They made the case slightly smaller for the Hero 3+ and 4 that this door is intended for. Luckily I had a spare backdoor for my Hero 3 and was still able to use Floaty with it. If your camera is older than Hero 3+, don't order!

Works great. I wish it was a little thinner like wearing a hat or using one of the stick attachments, I can't use it flat on my forehead. The floating back is too thick for that. Works great and easy to use. We used this float on our camera which is attached to a wrist strap. A couple of times the strap came off our wrist during a tornado and this float saved our camera! This is a great added security. When the camera is in the water, the orange float is on top and easily visible. I need a buoyancy pad when boating. And found the pen useful while snorkeling. For swimming, one of these devices would probably be more than adequate.
