There are no negative side effects when operating the display via USB.

I have a MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. I bought an OWC USB-C docking station that only has a display output. I have two old Apple Cinema Displays (DVI input). I bought this item to connect a USB-C cable to my computer and use both displays, drives, etc. I was amazed that this thing worked. I had to install the driver. But it was very straight forward. I didn't ask myself if I chose the right software. The cinema screen is not a normal "1080P" aspect ratio. I was concerned that this unit would not

Works great with the new M1 Mac and 1080P monitor

M1 Mac initially cannot run more than one external display. DisplayLink comes to the rescue. Displayport (2560x1440.) Wavlink connected to the USB3.0 port of the docking station, connected a DVI cable to Wavlink, installed DisplayLink and BAM - now I have 3 monitors. #1 is 32" 2560 x 1440, #2 is 23" 1920 x 1080 and #3 is the laptop's own Retina display, which I use a size "larger" than the stock size to suit my eyes and the Adjust viewing distance on all monitors. A very functional way to add a 4K monitor to your system

I bought this graphics adapter to add a 4K monitor to my current USB 3.0 enabled desktop system. The adapter was received in pristine condition and is exactly as pictured; Setup was easy: plug it into Windows 10, it recognized the adapter very quickly and plugged in a 4K monitor.
