Setup is Very Easy Now

A bit expensive, but so nice to use for setup. Centering it was a pain at first, but now it is dialed in and as long as you are reasonably gentle with it, it keeps its calibration. The set screws used to calibrate it are a bit tricky.

Pros
  • Fast shipping. Great product. You can't go wrong with haimer.
Cons
  • It is expensive compared to similar products on the market

Not a fan.: my feedback

The directions to center the thing didn't work. In fact I can't see any difference no matter what I screw or unscrew, tighten or untighten. I am starting to get the feeling I was duped. I will keep trying because if it actually worked then it would be nice to have. I am rooting for the stupid thing but I have had it for weeks now and every time I pick it up it makes me grumble because of the cost and the fact I haven't used it a single time. A $10 wobbler is more accurate than it is.

Pros
  • Tool Holders
Cons
  • It is not suitable for measuring temperatures, pressure, or other environmental factors

Best investment for quick setups

I can't say enough good things about this tool. The best thing for us is lightning fast setups and knowing that it actually accurate. It is more expensive than a typical edge finder, but so much faster.

Pros
  • my favorite tool ever. works brilliantly.
Cons
  • It is not compatible with all machines, making it difficult for individuals with a variety of equipment

Defective product for my opinion

I received my sensor and it was defective.Sent it back and they want to charge me for the fix. What a total waste of time , effort and money.Dont buy from here.

Pros
  • good probe, save me a lot a set up time
Cons
  • It only measures in the X and Y axes, limiting its use for 3D printing or CNC machining

Indispensable Machine Shop Tool

Excellent tool for mills without a probe. It essentially does everything a probe does except manually. It's well built and though the instructions are decent I did find that calibrating / adjusting it was a pain until I got the hang of it. That said it doesn't seem to need adjusting often. Readings are very precise and repeatable.I would absolutely consider this a must have for any mill without a probe.

Pros
  • With its affordable price point and exceptional performance, the Haimer Mini 3D Sensor delivers unbeatable value for money, making it an excellent investment for any professional
Cons
  • It is not suitable for use in high-pressure or high-temperature environments

Cannot Zero on my review.

I followed the manual but was unable to zero it reliably. I read in the other posts about another screw apart from the 4 set screw that need to be loosened. But I could not find it. I have been using an electronic edge finder. So I can only use this for height measurement.

Pros
  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • It requires a metal surface to function, limiting its use for non-metal projects

This is one of the most expensive single items I've bought for my mill, but it was absolutely worth it. This and the tool touch off have saved me hours of time in getting my tools and work-piece setup. The one tool does x,y, and z registration, and you don't have to worry about forgetting to compensate for the offset from a regular edge finder (which used to stress me out). Now I can quickly dial my tool heights in without the need for a paper shim and the height setting is always perfect. In…

Pros
  • Very simple to set up and use for finding zero on any edge or surface. Wish I had this years ago.
Cons
  • But it seems to function as expected. Z action is smooth.

I highly recommend this for any milling machine

This is very high quality tool. Built very well. Designed very rugged. So far it has saved me many hours of setup time from screwing with edge finders etc. I highly recommend this for any milling machine. I have just the standard short probe. And so far this has been perfect. I can see where some setups may benefit from the long probe but it's a easy add on later. The only thing I wish it had was a high quality case to store it in my tool box. But that's no reason to not purchase this tool. It's…
