I bought a cheap kit when I bought my soldering station thinking I would learn from it (medium at the time of purchase ). What actually happened is that I could barely get my solder to melting temperature even with the higher temperature settings on my station. Transitioning to them put everything back in order. Fast and clean connections. This is truly Japanese quality.
These Hakko tips fit an iron on a universal soldering iron/heat gun kit made in China (they are usually marked 853D - mine is) and work MUCH better than the original tips. to the tip and make soldering work much easier. Just make sure you have a brass cleaning station to clean/tin the tips and use it to re-tin the tip each time to keep it in tip top condition.
I've had this soldering station for about 7 years now and although it's not very expensive I'm happy with it. I recently purchased a Hakko T18 handpiece for a project. Once I started using this tip I couldn't believe the difference and how much easier it was to solder. I was so happy with this tip that I ended up buying this Hakko set. The difference between the tips from other manufacturers and this Hakko set is incredible. The tips retain heat much better and release it much faster than myโฆ
