🔧 Convenient Hands-Free Dosing: MATOW 54mm Funnel with Grinder Trigger for Breville Portafilters Review

Thing fits pretty loose and I had to use pliers to bend the tabs to grab my portafilter. I noticed that one of the three notches was machined to a different tolerance, not quite straight. For the money paid I expected better handling but could also buy some of the cheaper versions that are on sale.

I only received this product today so I may update this review in the future if anything unexpected comes up. But the first impression is extremely positive. It fits the 54mm Breville portafilter perfectly (on my Barista Express), works with a coffee grinder and makes grinding and pounding easier and less likely to spill. This is a great product and honestly should be standard on the Barista Express. Buy and be happy.

This is the only portafilter funnel I've found that retains the factory function of the grinder start button on my Barista Pro. Unlike other funnels, you don't have to press the button and hold the portafilter in the air while grinding. The fit and finish are well done! I used one of these 3D prints from Etsy until it went in the dishwasher and the plastic warped. This works even better than the 3D printed one, the notch that toggles the Breville grinder to auto duration works perfectly. This is a well made product - stainless steel matches the portafilter that came with my Breville. It keeps the coffee grounds in the funnel so you don't have a mess! Great nozzle! Before I had this, the coffee grounds would fall off the portafilter as the grinder filled it. All the ground coffee is collected with this nozzle. I then use a tamper to compact the grist so that it is below the level of the hopper. If it were handled a little tighter, you wouldn't have to worry about it coming loose and falling on your foot. We have a Breville BES870XL express machine. Using the grinder was a chore as the ground coffee kept overflowing through the port filter and making a mess. I pushed hard on the shock and tried to get the puck downhill so we could do a downhill kill with the car. Often the pressure on the extraction scale was low and we would have had an insufficient extraction. We went up and down the grinder dial and up and down the weight dial trying to find the exact mix to get a decent hit, all to no avail.
