Green River Canyon Maze, tested and approved in Moab, Utah. This shirt worked just like any other shirt I've taken on the river in the past and it was half the price. It withstood 105 f+ and mosquitoes over 4 days. No sunburn and minimal bug bites...A+

Nice shirt. great color FYI they are larger than the other medium sizes. So if you are tall, it might be better to order medium. Update 7-1: Used one of the new blues for the first time and the right sleeve has lost all stitches and threads. I still like it, but I will not accept this lack. Total game changer for me! I work 12 hour days in the hot sun and always use sunscreen to protect my skin and tattoos. I've been wearing them for a couple of weeks and not only do they protect me from the sun, but they are noticeably cooler than when I'm wearing a t-shirt. White reflects the sun and a breeze blows through the shirt. If I order more of these, I will not work in the sun without them again. *They run a little big, so I ordered one size smaller. I'm usually XL, but L is perfect.

I read other reviews and chose XL. XL is what a "real" XL should be. That's more XL than many other brands or clothing items. I'd say if you're usually between L and XL and want to wear it under a t-shirt or as an underlayer, go for L. XL makes a great top shirt to wear other clothes underneath. Now to the shirt itself. This is exactly what I was looking for: thin, stretchy base layer. It keeps its shape and is very light.

Ordered 8 of them to take the dog for a walk in the summer. 4 were badly sewn and fell apart. 2 were substitutes for bad shirts that were bad in themselves. They're a bit breathable, but also see-through, which is why I'm concerned about the UPF rating. Also, there is no indication on the packaging that they are UPF rated and as I am undergoing melanoma chemo which puts me at additional risk of new skin cancer this is not bothersome. They are big and don't shrink.

I live in a very warm and sunny place. I wear these shirts to avoid sunscreen as much as possible. I've bought expensive sports sunshirts from other travel and outdoor companies. I find these Hanes long sleeve shirts to be equally protective and comfortable but at a much more affordable price. I use them for hiking, mountain biking, fishing and many other occasions.
