The buttonholes appear to be of good quality but they are too thick and too short - they barely fit on the loom and are very difficult to work with - My daughter (9) was disappointed when she was trying to finish the loom as it is shrinking so much. I'm a handyman and had difficulty completing it - it takes a lot of coordination. Would not recommend or buy as a gift.

The loom itself is standard but the claws are almost if not entirely nylon which makes it a little easier to fit into the loom but 1. If you use the tack taking the loom out shrinks it to an almost useless size and 2. makes it impossible to use a smaller oven mitt as a trivet because it's made of nylon. I would get a different set.

We keep buying replacement heads for our middle and elementary school kids to use on their potholder looms. They each made one when we received this replacement set. They are too thick and difficult to pull on the machine and finish the edges of the machine. My youngest child gave up in despair. Even my high school student found it too complicated to use.

My little daughter made these into pot holders for my elderly aunt who farts a lot. My aunt loved potholders and my daughter loved to make them for her. It was the best price we could find in replacement packs and the fabric was good quality allowing for a very tight weave. These make great gifts for young girls and oven mitts are a hit with older family members. It's a win-win situation!

I am an adult and after some disappointment I have decided that this set is not suitable for small children alone. I've had a hard time working with thick loops, but I love how bold the project turns out. The end projects I wouldn't call potholders because you get something half the size (see photos for size comparison) but they make sturdy, beautiful mug coasters that I love!
