I have a 7 year old and a 4 year old and I can definitely say that you should order based on your child's age and not the size of their clothes when they about average height for their age. I ordered by clothing size and had to return for smaller sizes. After that I am very satisfied! The only thing that would make these coats better for me is the soft/fluffy inner material.
