Faulty solenoid ruined my transmission

I purchased this automotive replacement part for my transmission and it ended up causing more problems than it solved. The solenoid was faulty and it caused my entire transmission to fail resulting in costly repairs..

It fits my 97 Camaro

It doesn't look like the one I pulled out of my transmission (4l60e) but it fits perfectly. So I'm not sure if anyone else changed it before I got the car. I think I'll find out when I get the engine overhauled and running really well.
