Very quiet steering! fits computers and accessories

I bought a Hitachi Travelstar 2.5" 500GB 5400rpm internal hard drive to replace the Fujitsu HD that comes with came with the MacBook (2006 model). My old one just died. The installation part was easy, but I kept getting "input/output errors" while formatting. But as it turned out, that wasn't a problem with the Hitachi HD , MAC's Disk Utilities CD was too outdated for this HD according to my computer friend.. Anyway, now that it's running smoothly I feel like this drive is so quiet it's…

Pros
  • I hold my fists

Great cheap drive that makes a lot of noise

This is a very basic drive perfect for basic laptops or game consoles. It does its job well and is fairly fast for a 5400 RPM drive. However, -1 star for noise. This is one of the loudest hard drives I've ever seen. When reading and writing, the thing makes a lot of noise. However, the noise is only really audible when you are right next to it (e.g. in your laptop on your lap) or when you are in a very quiet room. For a game console, that's almost perfect. For a laptop I would only recommend…

6 cycles and broken.

I bought the device in January for 24/7 monitoring. Due to the size of the hard drive, I cycled every month. It's been 6 months and the hard drive is completely dead. Spend your money elsewhere for a better product if you need monitoring data.

Pros
  • Only positive
Cons
  • Hard to say

I've had good experiences with WD products in the past

My hard drive freezes intermittently. Decided to replace this WD. I have had good experiences with WD products in the past. This WD HGST works well and feels a little faster than my old one. Even better. Many Thanks.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Outrageous price

Broke about a year after installation.

My hard drive has been failing since I bought it last August. Just a year after purchase, due to smart drive failure, it occurs and half of my data becomes inaccessible (I can't backup most of my sensitive data even though it's listed because "Windows can't read source drive". Me just me hope i can replace it under warranty.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Excellent OS backup disks

I use two of these to clone my people's OS disk to their computers. In the event that their 120GB SSDs fail, I can just swap out that (much slower) drive with their operating system and programs, and they're back up and running in pretty much 10 minutes. were simply formatted and had no problems with the cloning software. Their tests passed as the computer booted with them instead of regular SSDs. Very slow compared to SSDs but they work and that's what I need. Poor performance aside, I can't…

Pros
  • Looking forward to it
Cons
  • Not the best
