HIC Nylon Mesh Strainer 5 5 Inch Review

I like that this strainer is attached to a regular sized bowl. It's easy to clean and easy to use with a decent opening to pour out whatever you strain. Durability is questionable, although I haven't broken it yet I'm not 100% sure it will last all that long.

I went with the 5.5 inch and I'm glad I did because I can just pour the kefir out without worrying about the strainer breaking overflows because the grains clog the lower screens. The nylon material feels brittle, but I can't expect it to look like metal. Serves its purpose perfectly and if I ever need a replacement I will buy another one.

I use it every day, works well with my liter measuring cup to replace milk, nuts and water kefir. I wash and dry between three yogurts and don't wipe it very carefully. It holds up well and is just what I need for fermenting drinks. I'm in my third month of daily use. I love how it's constructed to stay above whatever vessel I'm pouring into (I'm a complete clumsy kitchen). If I were to buy it again I would probably buy a set of different sizes.

For a number of years I have been looking for a replacement for my favorite screen filters that are technically ready for scrap because the screen has cracked. Nothing to say Very fine mesh strainer ideal for small items like lentils which I bought it specifically for. Comfortably holds about 2 cups (size 5 1/2 inches). Didn't get a chance to try the "hook" feature, but there's a slightly overhanging lip here that you can lean on while holding it and running water. If you are making kefir, milk or water you will need a nylon strainer as the metal is not allowed and can kill the grains! It's been used a lot over the past few weeks to catch grains when I pour kefir water into a large bowl. The strainer has been through the dishwasher and has been hand washed many times with no problems.
