Warning: you will get hot. and it's really cold! ;)

Works like clockwork. Added heatsink and fan: I now have a small piece of ice on my desk. (sorry for the very loud fan in my video, this has been fixed)

This is TEC1-12704 labeled TEC1-12706.

Both modules work, but performance better meets the weaker TEC1-12704 specifications. At an ambient temperature of 25Β°C on both sides and the voltage limit of my laboratory power supply of 15.4V (Vmax = 04), the module draws 4 amps. This corresponds to the Imax 04 and is definitely inferior to the 06. I give it a 3/5 because they compare pretty much the same to rated.

Great price, great product

Not sure why he needs a heat rating? But works great for cooling or heating, although I use mine for cooling it replaced the one in the coke mini fridge which blew out after one use =/ this one worked great waiting for the thermal paste to test as well.

Excellent value internal components

I have a portable fridge/heater that is no longer cooling/heating. New cost $128. I was going to throw it away but decided to fix it first. I took it apart and found this device inside. I bought this set of 2 and had the cooler/heater fixed! At $8.49 for two, that's a huge deal because you don't have to throw away the cooler/heater! Attention, I tested the device before installing it. The hot side gets hot so fast it almost burns me! Hot in seconds.

No 6 ampere module! Half of the promised cooling!

Like the other reviewer, I felt the summary was presented/labeled incorrectly. In fact, these are modules for 3 amps and 12 volts; half of the specified cooling capacity! Otherwise they work fine.

Limited Cooling, Clearly Mislabeled

Do Not Buy. Definitely not 12706. Pretty frustrating as I've invested in a couple of heatsinks, thermal paste and fans to only get about 1/4 of the advertised cooling potential. This is also consistent with other reviews. Update: Resistance tested is 4 ohms, as evidenced by drawing less than 3 amps from a 12V power supply rated up to 6A.

Ideal for internal components

They still work despite having been stored for a while. I tested them recently and they produce temperatures you would expect. I didn't use high voltage as described, just max 9V and they start working right away. About 3 seconds and maintained. One side gets hot and the other gets cold, and if you swap the wires like I did, the sides generating the temperature are swapped, so no damage I hope. the temperature is quite warm, maybe 70Β° and the cold drops to 45Β°, maybe I wasn't sure what to…

Fixed Wine Cooler

Yes, this $200 (or more) tabletop wine cooler uses (1) one of those $4.25 parts to keep it cool. Neighbor's wine cooler stopped cooling because the cooling tray died. I replaced this tablet with one of these and it took care of it. When using, make sure the tray has a HOT side and a COLD side. Obviously, with a wine cooler, the cold side faces in and the hot side faces the huge heatsink, with the fan facing the back. DO NOT install any of these without thermal paste! Thermal paste is necessary…
