When I first got it I loved it so much for its light weight and versatility but it only rusted after less than 2 months of light use.

I like this colander a lot; Funny that after years of cooking I only recently found out about the "spider web". I tested it and it worked great: the olive oil stayed in the pan and the food turned out light and crispy. I put my other filters aside and will only use this one from now on.

Filter works exactly as advertised. That's a good sieve. BUT, if you're not careful, the handle gets VERY hot, very easy. Last night I burned my hand after picking up the colander and just standing it next to the stove while my pasta cooked. If I could do it again I would buy a colander with an insulated handle.

I bought this specifically for hot oil extracting shrimp in coconut beer batter. When I used this item to pick up food, the inside of my hand, fingers, and palm were terribly burned. There should be something on the handle that creates a barrier between the metal and the skin. It's been 3 weeks and my burns are still trying to heal.

I have not used it yet. It appears to be a very durable and well-made filter. It's long enough to keep your hand from getting too close to the hot oil. Chinese bamboo is thin in comparison. I will update my review after use but only if I encounter any issues. BTW.it also comes in a set of 3 with larger baskets and slightly longer handles. This should be enough for most household needs.
