Blocks Optical Drive on Inspiron 5570

I have an Inspiron 5570 and as long as the screws line up I can trace the cables and basically plug them back together. I cannot return the optical drive as it is about a quarter inch or so wider than the original. The disk bounces against him, preventing me from putting it back in. I'll probably just leave it as I never use the drive and the laptop never leaves my house, I only use it at home for fun/personally and can't bother with the return process. Maybe put tape or something over the hole
